The Pretty Website Trap for UAE Redesigns

A restaurant group with branches in Dubai and a new room in Abu Dhabi spent the redesign budget on a film. The hero played for twenty seconds. The menu was a PDF. Sharjah delivery, which the group had just started, was never mentioned. A Telr deposit meant to hold a Friday table returned a dead link. Guests who wanted a time and a headcount got a mood. The website was handsome. It was a brochure, and the floor staff still took bookings in a paper diary.

Brochure websites versus a lead machine

A brochure can win an award and still leave Saturday unfilled. A lead machine shows the room, the emirate, the price band, and a way to reserve before the film ends. VAT-inclusive set menus belonged on the page. They were trapped in the PDF, so the price a guest saw and the price finance invoiced did not match.

UAE web design that cannot take a reservation is an expensive poster.

Share of exits in the review model Vague offer 22% UX friction 48% Weak CTA 30%
Illustrative scenario. Share of exits in a homepage review model for a UAE hospitality site. Not a client result.

Three reasons customers leave the page

A vague message

22% of exits in the review model happened because "a coastal dining experience" never said which Dubai branch, whether Abu Dhabi was open, or if Sharjah was delivery-only. Guests do not enquire into a riddle.

UX friction

48% left because of friction. The film would not pause on a phone. The PDF menu forced a download on hotel wifi. The Telr hold failed, and there was no fallback to a phone number with a named host. Friction is a lost table, not a design detail.

A weak CTA

30% reached a footer link that said "Contact". It did not say "Hold a table for Friday, pay a AED deposit". A weak call to action asks the guest to decide what the business wanted. A strong one states the action and the VAT-inclusive amount.

The CrazzyCodes framework we use

  1. Offer, branch, and area above the film: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah, not all three blurred together.
  2. A price band that matches the VAT invoice.
  3. One action: reserve, with Telr in the restaurant's own merchant account or a click-to-call host.
  4. A page that works with the film turned off.
  5. A count of reservations per week, reviewed with the floor manager.

That is the brief we take into development. Audit the current page before you extend the film.

Check the redesign against bookings

The audit looks for a reservation path, not for another compliment on the film.
